We’ve all had an exchange like this but mine happened yesterday in conversation with some guests during a BBQ in my backyard.
“So the book was by the same person who wrote that movie; the actress in it is the one with the really high irritating voice. It had a great beginning with all these people wandering through a cornfield. I think the guy writes screenplays but this was a crime novel. It was based on a real crime I think. I just gave the paperback to somebody. You should get it.”
One of the other guests, a networked information professional, remarked “So much for the simple search box.” Indeed. And yes, we finally figured it out.
Jim coordinated the OCLC Research office in San Mateo, CA, focusing on relationships with research libraries and work that renovates the library value proposition in the current information environment. He retired in 2016.
